What Offset Should you Choose?
The Pony R wheels come in two main offsets. A stock offset for stock style rotors and axles. These can be 4 or 5 lug. The higher offset wheels are typically intended for longer rear axles and/or taller rotors/spindle setups that push the wheels out toward the curb. The higher offset allows the face of the wheel to stay in the same place. Below we have information about different brake/suspension setups and the recommended offsets to be used with our Pony R for proper fitment. As a side note, for the same width wheels, if one wheel has a higher offset, it will also have a deeper backspacing. Please note, Mustang is a registered trademark of Ford Motor Co.
For the Front: 17x6.5” -> Our front “skinny” Pony R wheel currently is available in one offset, 8.9mm. This offset will work for 1979-2004 Mustangs and is available in 4 and 5 lugs. See the chart below for recommended wheel offset and tire size based on your brake and/or suspension setups for the 17x6.5” Pony R wheels.
17x8.0” -> These Pony R wheels are available in two offsets. The stock offset of 24.5 mm, available in 4 or 5 lugs, and the higher offset of 32 mm, 5 lugs only. The higher offset of 32mm is mainly for Foxbody Mustangs with SN95 rotors and spindles. See the chart below for recommended wheel offset and tire size based on your brake and/or suspension setups for the 17x8.0” Pony R wheels.
17x9.0” -> The 17x9” Pony R wheel is available in two offsets and both offsets are available in 4 and 5 lugs. These wheels are available in offsets that will fit stock, 93 Cobra, and SN95 axles. See the chart below for recommended wheel offset and tire size based on your brake and/or suspension setups for the 17x9.0” Pony R wheels.
17x10.0” -> Just like the 9”, the 17x10” Pony R wheel is available in two offsets and both offsets are available in 4 and 5 lugs. These wheels are available in offsets that will fit stock, 93 Cobra, and SN95 axles. See the chart below for recommended wheel offset and tire size based on your brake and/or suspension setups for the 17x10.0” Pony R wheels.
